Kolayat Lake (कोलायत झील)

Kolayat Lake is a sacred lake surrounded by 52 ghats and numerous temples, located about 50 km from Bikaner. Dedicated to Sage Kapil Muni (the founder of the Sankhya school of Hindu philosophy), this pilgrimage site is often called the 'Pushkar of the Thar Desert.' The lake is surrounded by temples, ashrams, and beautifully constructed bathing ghats. During Kartik Purnima (November), the Kolayat Fair transforms this tranquil town into a vibrant festival ground with thousands of devout pilgrims, livestock trading, and cultural events. The serene desert landscape surrounding the lake, the reflection of temples in the calm water, and the spiritual atmosphere make Kolayat a must-visit destination near Bikaner.
